Be-Ro Scones

Ingredients

200g self-raising flour

1/2 tsp salt

50 margarine

25g sugar

50g sultanas

1 egg, beaten, with 75ml milk

 

Makes approx 5-6 scones

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 220c
  2. Mix flours and salt, rub in margarine
  3. Stir in sugar and fruit
  4. Add egg and milk, reserving a little for brushing the tops
  5. knead lightly on a floured surface and pat out with hand (don't roll) to 2cm thickness
  6. Cut into rounds, re-roll trimmings and cut more
  7. Place on a greased baking tray and brush tops with egg and milk
  8. Bake at 220c for 10-12 minutes
